How to deal

Deal six cards each when two play. Each player puts two into the crib, an extra hand that belongs to the dealer. The non-dealer cuts and the dealer turns the top card, the starter; a Jack scores two for the dealer.

How to play

Starting with the non-dealer, play cards face up in turn, calling the running total, which may not pass thirty-one. Score as you go: two for making fifteen or thirty-one, two for a pair, more for three or four of a kind, and one per card for a run of three or more. A player who cannot play says go and the other scores one. Then each hand and the crib are counted with the starter.

How you win

Count fifteens, pairs, runs, flushes and the Jack of the starter's suit. Scores are pegged on the board; the first player to a hundred and twenty-one wins, and a loser who has not reached ninety-one is skunked.
