How to deal

Partners sit across the table. The dealer gives five cards each; the player to the dealer's right looks at them and names the trump suit (the rang). The dealer then completes the hands to thirteen each.

How to play

The player who named trump leads. Follow suit if you can; otherwise play any card, and a trump beats the led suit. Tricks are gathered in the middle by the side that has taken them, and once a side has taken seven tricks in a hand the rest are set aside.

How you win

The first side to seven tricks wins the hand. Take all thirteen and it is a court, worth a game of its own. Taking the first seven tricks straight through without the other side winning one earns a double. Play a fixed number of hands or to an agreed number of courts.
