How to deal

Partners sit across the table. Deal thirteen cards each, counter-clockwise, the way the game travels in its home countries.

How to play

Bidding starts left of the dealer with the number of tricks a player will win for their side, seven at the least; the highest bidder names the trump suit (the tarneeb) and leads. Follow suit if you can; otherwise play any card, and a trump beats the led suit. The highest trump, or the highest card of the led suit, wins the trick and leads next.

How you win

If the bidding side takes at least the number they bid, they score one point per trick taken; thirteen tricks on a thirteen bid scores twenty-six. If they fall short they lose the number they bid, and the other side scores the tricks it took. First side to thirty-one wins.
