How to deal

Deal the whole deck out, thirteen cards each with four at the table. Before the first trick each player passes three cards: left on the first hand, right on the second, across on the third, and no pass on the fourth; then the cycle repeats.

How to play

The holder of the 2 of clubs leads it. Follow suit if you can; if you cannot, throw anything, except that a heart or the Queen of spades may not be discarded on the very first trick. Hearts cannot be led until a heart has been thrown on an earlier trick, unless your hand is nothing but hearts. The highest card of the led suit takes the trick and leads next.

How you win

Every heart taken costs one point and the Queen of spades costs thirteen. Low score wins. Take all thirteen hearts and the Queen together and you have shot the moon: you score nothing and every other player takes twenty-six. Play ends when someone reaches a hundred.
