How to deal

Partners sit across the table. Deal four cards each from the 40-card deck, counter-clockwise. Players may call mus to discard and redraw; the hand begins only when a player refuses.

How to play

Four rounds of betting in points, never money: grande for the highest cards, chica for the lowest, pares for pairs and juego for a hand worth thirty-one or more. Each round is bet, raised, accepted or declined, and partners signal their hands to each other with the agreed gestures across the table.

How you win

Points are settled after the cards are shown, round by round: the winner of an accepted bet takes its value, a declined bet gives one point to the caller. Play to forty points over as many hands as it takes, the first partnership there wins.

W.F.A. deck setup for Mus

Play without the four 1s, then strip the 8s, 9s and 10s: 40 cards, the 07 in as the seven and the top pip card.
